I attended my first yoga class in the early 1990s as a teenager, driven to a local leisure centre by my mum for reasons I couldn’t quite explain. I didn’t fully understand the language of yoga back then, but I knew I was deeply drawn to it. Throughout my youth, I moved erratically between standard teenage life and the quiet space of yoga classes, always sensing there was something deeper to uncover.
In my early twenties, that curiosity pulled me to India for six months, a journey that radically shifted my perspective. From practicing daily with a teacher named Gopi on a beach in Goa to studying at the Iyengar Institute in Rishikesh and discovering Ashtanga in Mcleodganj, my relationship with the physical form expanded. Yet, it was during a stay at Tushita Meditation Centre that a moment of Grace awakened a true inner knowing within me, receiving what is known as shaktipat. Months later, a second shaktipat occurred in the presence of H.H. the Dalai Lama. These encounters permanently pivoted my interest away from purely physical postures and toward the vast mind journey of the awareness behind the practice.
For two decades, I immersed myself in the yoga world. I became a Fully Certified Anusara Teacher, studying closely with Bridget Woods Kramer and learning from teachers like John Friend and Doug Keller. I fell in love with Anusara because it is intimately woven with Kashmir Shaivism (non-dual Tantra.) Through teachers Carlos Pomeda, Bill Mahony and Paul Muller Ortega. I found it to be an exquisitely rich philosophical system that reveals divine consciousness as entirely accessible within the human body. Over the years, I also trained in pregnancy and mother-and-baby yoga under Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, and spent over a decade studying pranayama with Clive Sheridan.
My spiritual life remains anchored in rigorous study, deep meditation, and extended retreat practice. To that end, I have spent five years studying Sanskrit and am a graduate of the rigorous, 5-year FPMT Basic Program in Mahayana Buddhism under the guidance of Geshe Tenzin Namdak. I continue my Buddhist retreat studies under the Dzogchen and Mahamudra traditions of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.
Simultaneously, my dedication to non-dual Tantra is guided by my primary current teacher, Christopher Hareesh Wallis, alongside a foundation built on the teachings of the Siddha Yoga lineage.
Ultimately, my journey is no longer about collecting credentials or mastering philosophies. It is about integration. Whether working as a biodynamic craniosacral therapist, in acute hospital wards (I am a registered nurse,) resting in a flotation tank (my other job), journeying with plant medicine, or sitting in meditation, my focus is on what it means to actually live these profound philosophies inside a real, fragile, beautiful human body.
Thank you for reading my story. If you join me for a session or workshop, I look forward to exploring the depths of awareness together.
